San Antonio Employment Opportunities Possible with Company Move

A company that manufactures construction equipment could create many new San Antonio employment opportunities if it locates a new plant in the city.

AmeriQuip Eagle LLC recently announced that it is considering San Antonio as one of six potential locations for a new manufacturing plant. The company is planning to create many new jobs as it moves from its current location in Kentucky.

The new manufacturing plant would create about 100 new jobs, including 25 to 30 positions for highly-skilled workers. In fact, AmeriQuip has already begun hiring engineers in an effort to get ready for the the new facility.

San Antonio Nurse Jobs Supported by Grants

Many students will be able to prepare for San Antonio nurse jobs and other healthcare positions thanks to millions of dollars worth of new grants and scholarships.

The Baptist Health Foundation recently announced that it will award a total of 76 grants worth $4.8 million to health and social service organizations throughout the San Antonio area. Of that funding, $924,790 will be awarded to 809 students in the form of nursing and health careers scholarships.

“These scholarships are really neat because that’s a real investment in the future,” Kenneth Andrews, chairman of the Baptist Health Foundation board, told the San Antonio Express-News. “The stories you hear from some of these students, the sacrifices they have to make, is really overwhelming. A lot of these are older students going back to school. They’ve got families and jobs. That’s been tremendously rewarding for me.”

Job San Antonio Added by Two Companies

Two companies are working to increase the number of job San Antonio has to offer.

Two companies with local operations are planning to add several jobs in the near future. Glazer’s Distributors will create 103 jobs during the next four years as it builds a new marketing and distribution facility, while Con-way Freight will add 56 jobs by 2015 as it expands and relocates to a new facility.

Glazer’s Distributors, a Dallas-based distributor of wine and spirits, plans to invest $26 million in a new LEED certified facility near Port San Antonio. The company already employs 131 people in San Antonio, according to an article by the San Antonio Express-News.

San Antonio Insurance Jobs for Underwriters

Positions for insurance underwriters are among the most important San Antonio insurance jobs that need to be filled.

Insurance underwriters are basically in charge of deciding who gets to receive insurance and who does not. They review applications to determine the amount of risk involved and decide what type of insurance can be provided.

San Antonio Jobs with Boeing Could be Lost

Hundreds of San Antonio jobs with The Boeing Company could soon be lost.

The Pentagon recently announced that the company’s Port San Antonio aviation center has lost a nine-year, $3.8 billion contract extension. That contract - to provide maintenance and logistics services for the KC-10 fleet of aerial refueling tankers - has instead been awarded to Northrop Grumman Corporation, which could result in the loss of more than 100 jobs.

Officials at the Boeing Global Services and Support center, which employs about 1,700 aerospace workers, told SACommunities that the company is disappointed. Boeing has not yet disclosed exactly how many jobs will be lost.
