Arizona Pharmacy Jobs Get Funding

The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy has received a $1.7 million grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. The funding will be used to study the effects of all-Trans Retinoic Acid on organ damage caused when oxygen is introduced to cells.
Professor Serrine Lau was granted the funding after she led a team that discovered ATRA protects against cell damage caused by oxidative stress, a condition that occurs after ischemia, or reduction of blood supply to an organ.
