Sales Jobs Miami Could Come from hhgregg Expansion

A popular electronics company is expanding across Florida, and although it’s not creating sales jobs Miami yet, success of the new stores could eventually lead to more Miami Dade County jobs. Visit http://miamidade.jobing.com for more information.

Retailer hhgregg recently announced its plans to hire 600 new employees throughout Florida. The company hopes to create about 50 jobs in each of its new stores, nine of which are to be located in South Florida and one of which is to be located on the Treasure Coast, according to the South Florida Business Journal.

The available jobs are mainly for commissioned sales associates, warehouse staff, and customer service merchandisers. Hhgregg, which mainly sells appliances and electronics, hopes to open the new stores by this summer.

Miami Tech Jobs at New Bilingual Customer Service Center

Hundreds of new Miami tech jobs are being created by a bilingual customer service center.

Comcast recently announced its plans to open a new Center of Excellence in Miramar, a nearby suburb of Miami. The center will create more than 300 new jobs for bilingual customer service representatives who can provide support to Spanish-speaking customers.

“We’ve been extremely focused on bringing an enhanced entertainment experience to the growing Hispanic community, but just as important is delivering top-notch service,” Filemon Lopez, senior vice president of the Florida East Coast Region for Comcast, said in a statement. “By creating a dedicated Spanish-language Center of Excellence, we can leverage our investments in sophisticated tools and advanced technology, and deliver specific employee training on our unique Hispanic product offerings to deliver a consistently high quality experience to Spanish-speaking consumers.”

Miami Unemployment Helped by Cruise Ship Industry

The Port of Miami recently announced that it will serve as the permanent home of the new Celebrity Eclipse cruise ship. The new ship, which is the third in the Celebrity Cruise Solstice class, is expected to support thousands of jobs and bring more tourists to the Miami area.

The Celebrity Eclipse measures 122,000 gross registered tons and is 1,041 feet long, according to the South Florida Business Journal. The ship, which was built in Germany, has the capacity to carry 2,850 passengers.

Miami Nursing Jobs, Others Increase

The employment situation for those seeking Miami nursing jobs and many other positions has improved.

During April, the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall area’s unemployment rate decreased from 12 percent to 11.3 percent, which is still higher than the national average of 9.9 percent.

The Miami area had a total non-farm employment 980,700 workers during April, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is up from 978,900 workers during March, but a 1.3 percent decrease from last year.

Miami Medical Jobs, Education Jobs See Highest Employment Ever

Although the area’s unemployment rate has continued to climb and is now higher than the national average, more Miami medical jobs and education jobs are currently in existence than ever before.

During October, the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall area saw its unemployment rate increase from 11.4 percent to 11.8 percent, following a decrease from 11.8 percent during September. The area’s current rate is higher than the national unemployment rate at the time of 10.2 percent.

The Miami area’s education and health services industry employed 157,200 workers during October, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. this is up from 156,000 workers during September and a 1 percent decrease from last year.
