A clean-tech company that will create Denver jobs is among six throughout Colorado and nearly 200 in the nation to receive funding.

Gov. Bill Ritter recently announced that six clean-tech companies received $75.2 million in advanced energy manufacturing funds through the Department of Energy from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The funding will be used to create jobs, increase manufacturing and grow Colorado’s New Energy Economy.

“The Recovery Act is giving a much-needed boost to Colorado companies that are creating jobs and helping to drive the New Energy Economy,” he said. “These tax credits will help our companies grow and keep Colorado on the road to economic recovery.”

A severe number of Phoenix medical jobs could be lost if the state goes through with planned cuts to healthcare programs.

During a recent news conference, businesses leaders announced that plans to cut state programs that provide healthcare would cost tens of thousands of jobs, and those losses would extend beyond positions in the healthcare industry.

According to an article by the Arizona Daily Star, the cuts will impact the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System and the Arizona Department of Health Services. Overall, the state is planning to cut about $800 million, which will ultimately result in the loss of $2.7 billion from Arizona’s economy.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that more than one of every 10 Americans - or 25 million people - suffers from chronic, disabling conditions that cause major limitations and decreased quality of life.

Although the unemployment rate increased and more employers shed workers over the year, some jobs in Raleigh NC were added during February.

During February, the Raleigh-Cary area’s unemployment rate increased from 9.5 percent to 9.6 percent, following an increase from 8.7 percent during January. The latest increase places the area’s rate just below the national average of 9.7 percent.

The Raleigh area had a total non-farm employment of 492,700 workers during February, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is up from 490,000 workers during January, but a 1.7 percent decrease from last year.

Anyone who loves working with children and loves to share their knowledge should consider Oregon teaching jobs in elementary schools.

Elementary school teachers are responsible for teaching pupils in public or private schools at the elementary level basic academic, social, and other formative skills. In the near future, trained workers will have the best chance finding a job in order to fill replacement openings, according to the Oregon Employment Department.

During 2008, employment was estimated to be much larger than the regional average. Positions for elementary school teachers should grow at a slightly lower rate than the regional average, but there will be more job openings than the regional average.

There are many options for those seeking Austin tech jobs.

The Austin area has long been considered a major center for high-tech jobs and companies. This is in part because graduating students from the engineering and computer science programs at The University of Texas at Austin provide a steady source of employees to fuel the city’s technology and defense industries.

One positive for job seekers with a high-tech background - the Austin area offers lower housing costs than many other popular tech areas, such as Silicon Valley. However, Austin is more expensive than many other areas throughout Texas, according to Wikipedia.

Pittsburgh construction jobs will be supported by the efforts of a local university.

The University of Pittsburgh’s property and facilities committee recently approved $46 million worth of construction and renovation projects. Of that funding, $28.2 million will go to expand the school’s physics and astronomy laboratory, $15 of which will come from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Aside from the construction jobs the projects will support, the university also plans to add three permanent faculty positions in experimental physics research, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Houston medical jobs are still among the most stable in the area.

Many staffing agencies and job market analysts note that Houston’s medical industry has remained the most resilient throughout the economic recession. Luckily for job seekers, the industry continues to see some of the most significant job growth in the city.

“Healthcare has been the most consistent large hirer over the last quarter,” reCareered President Phil Rosenberg told the Houston Chronicle. “Two weeks ago, 10 of the top 40 recruiters were health care companies.”

Several new San Diego jobs will be created through federal funding for a collaborative project.

The U.S. Department of Labor recently announced that the San Diego area will receive a three-year, $4.95 million grant for the Biotechnology Readiness, Immersion, Certification and Degrees for Gainful Employment Project.

The BRIDGE Project is an effort among San Diego State University, BIOCOM, San Diego Workforce Partnership and the Southern California Biotechnology Center at Miramar College. The project will provide education, training and placement services to more than 1,000 veterans, incumbent workers, and dislocated and unemployment workers in the area.

Most employers require one or two years of training, including on-the-job experience and informal training with experienced workers. Registered nurses also are required to obtain state and national licensing.
