There are a number of specialties that those with occupational therapy jobs Arizona can pursue.

Occupational therapists help injured, elderly, and disabled people rehabilitate from and adapt to physical and cognitie impairments. Their main duties are to evaluate clients’ specific problems, provide a customized action plan, and follow up.

These professionals can choose to specialize in a number of treatment areas. The American Occupational Therapy Association offers board certification in pediatrics, geriatrics, mental health, and physical rehabilitation.

According to Education-Portal.com, occupational therapists can choose to become certified in the following areas:

• Pediatrics - Help children adjust to physical, emotional, mental, and other problems. OTs work with patients in schools, hospitals, childcare programs and in the home.
• Geriatrics - Work with the elderly who are ill or need help getting around their home. OTs work with patients in hospitals, nursing facilities, and in the home.
• Mental health - Help patients suffering from a number of mental health problems develop skills for stress management, money management, and socializing.
• Physical rehabilitation - Work with patients who are suffering from physical limitations due to disease, disability, or injury by helping them relearn daily tasks.
