Seattle Nurse Jobs Among Most Added

Those looking for Seattle nurse jobs may soon have better luck finding a position, as the city’s education and health services industry was among one of the four to add workers last month when compared to 2009.

During August, the Seattle area’s unemployment rate decreased to 8.4 percent after remaining at 8.6 percent for two months in a row. The latest decrease keeps the city’s rate below the national average of 9.6 percent.

The Seattle-Bellevue-Everett area had a total non-farm employment of 1,386,000 people during August, which is down from 1,390,000 workers during July and the same as last year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Dallas Healthcare Jobs, Education Jobs Account for Yearly Growth

Dallas healthcare jobs and education jobs accounted for the majority of employment growth the city has seen during the past year.

During August, the Dallas area’s unemployment rate dropped to 8.4 percent after remaining at 8.5 percent for two months in a row. That decrease keeps the area’s rate below the national average of 9.6 percent.

The Dallas-Plano-Irving area had a total non-farm employment of 2,021,900 workers during August, which is down from 2,023,900 workers during July and a 1.2 percent increase from last year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Houston Customer Service Jobs Among Fastest-Growing

There should be some great opportunities for anyone seeking Houston customer service jobs in the near future.

A recent article from The Atlantic named Houston among the top cities that are projected to add service industry jobs in the coming years. The service industry, which is mainly made up of low-skill and low-wage jobs, accounts for more jobs throughout America than any other industry.

More than 60 million people - or 45 percent of the workforce - have these types of jobs. That’s not expected to change anytime soon, as the service industry should add 7.1 million new jobs by 2018. Of those positions, 400,000 will be for customer service professionals.

Phoenix Construction Jobs Get Boost from Green Incentives

A new incentive aimed at going green could result in the creation of more Phoenix construction jobs, which is much needed, as the construction industry throughout America continues to suffer from the lingering effects of the economic recession.

Starting October 1st, the Phoenix Development Services Department will begin offering incentives through the Green Building Incentives Program to encourage green construction in homes and businesses. Check out this construction laborer job description.

The program is being funded by a $700,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. Part of that money will be used to create a voluntary Green Building Code, which will be implemented throughout the city in late 2011.

Austin Jobs Supported by Texas Energy Industry

The local energy industry continues to support Austin jobs and positions throughout Texas.

Many local leaders recently attended the Southeast Texas Plant Managers’ Forum to discuss the economy of Texas and how the state’s petrochemical industry plays an important role in fueling the rest of the nation.

The energy industry throughout Texas currently supplies about 20 percent of oil production throughout the nation, which is more than 30 percent of the country’s natural gas production, one-quarter of America’s refining capacity, and almost 60 percent of the nation’s chemical manufacturing.
