Fort Lauderdale Teaching Jobs

There are several places to search for Fort Lauderdale teaching jobs.

When it comes to primary and secondary education, Broward County Public Schools is the largest school district in the Ft. Lauderdale area, operating 23 public schools throughout the city. The 2007 Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test for public schools in Ft. Lauderdale awarded 10 of 16 elementary schools “A” or “B” grades, while one of four middle schools received that grade.

Three schools, including Sunland Park Elementary School, Arthur Ashe Middle School and Boyd Anderson High School, received failing grades on that assessment. However, none of those schools received a failing grade twice in a four-year period, making them eligible for the Opportunity Scholarship Program under Florida’s education plan.

Colleges and universities located in the Ft. Lauderdale area include:
Broward Community College
City College
Florida Atlantic University
Nova Southeastern University
The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale
University of Phoenix Cypress Creek Learning Center

In addition, the corporate headquarters of Kaplan University and an academic support center also are located in Ft. Lauderdale.

The U.S. Census Bureau found that as of 2000, 79 percent of residents at least 25-years old had a high school diploma, which is below the national average of 80.4 percent. About 27.9 percent of Ft. Lauderdale residents had a bachelor’s degree or higher, which is higher than the national average of 24.4 percent.

Unfortunately, those looking for Ft. Lauderdale teaching jobs have most likely not had as much luck as of late, as the area’s education industry has seen a monthly and yearly decrease in employment.

The Ft. Lauderdale-Pompano Beach-Deerfield Beach area’s education and health services industry employed 94,500 workers during November, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is down from 95,000 workers during October and a 3.6 percent decrease from last year.
