Amid a consistently failing economy, many workers are wondering if they should hire job search firms in order to help them find a new position.

Forbes recently completed a study in which it canvassed six staffing professionals. The consensus found that while job search companies might offer some useful advice on topics such as career counseling and resume writing, job hunters can often find all of those services for free.

In short, job search firms are companies that promise to offer a job searching strategy to the unemployed. However, these companies aren’t always honest in their promises. For instance, Denver-based ITS was recently the focus of a New York Times article claiming the company was taking clients’ money without providing services.
